A million questions about getting your site onto Google page 1
(abbreviated list):
1. I can search right now and find my site at www.(mydomain).com on Google page 1, so I guess my site is already searchable, right?
Wrong. It is amusing to see people who want to find a site, go to Google.com and search for a full domain name. If you know the domain name, why not type it in the browser address bar. The fact that your full domain name comes up first under Google, means nothing. You registered your domain and a week later Google will know it exists; they won't know anything about what your site does or how it can help people and neither will anyone else, possibly ever.
2. My domain name has nothing to do with my site content; will your service really work for me?
Neither does MooreWare.com. We don't sell Moore paint or software or hardware. We sell subscription services to builders and contractors in the construction industry that need online bookkeeping. I use this example for 2 reasons; one, it is my company; two, I don't have to get a release from my company to let me discuss what I have done for my company.
3. I only have 3 pages on my site, do I qualify?
You do need more pages, but not strictly for search-ability, but also because we make changes to 5 pages; it's our formula. If you only have 2 or 3 pages, don't worry, we'll create more at no charge.
4. My website sells widgets and I want to be searched by the word widget, is that okay?
No. You will supply three phrases you want to be search by and we will approve, disapprove or edit until both sides concur on the phrases.
5. What if it takes 2 years for my site to reach Google page 1, do you get your full fee?
No. We get paid 100% of the placement fee for reaching Google page 1 in 90 days; 50% for up to 180 days and $0.00 for anything that happens after 180 days.
6. I don't have time to keep looking on Google to see where my site is, so how do I know this invoice is really payable?
Don't worry. We will run the 3 queries against Google weekly, track how your site is doing and send you a screenshot when you reach page 1.
7. Are there any upfront costs for your SEO services?
Yes, we charge 2 fees. A setup fee of 20% is charged with the contract signing. A placement fee (80%) is paid on performance at 100% for reaching Google page 1 in 90 days and 50% for reaching Google page 1 in 180 days. There is no placement charge for results obtained after 6 months (roughly 180 days).
8. How much extra does it cost to get onto Yahoo page 1?
So far, we have not begun pricing for Yahoo page 1. We decided that Google is an easier concept for the consumer to understand than saying we guarantee Yahoo page 1 and have not tried to monetize a Yahoo search. The reality is that the big 6 search engines including MSN, Ask and Altavista will be trying to add your site to their results ASAP. Still page 1 is hard to achieve and Yahoo pricing will be added on October 15, 2008.
9. I got my domain name recently and when I search the name, Google shows a pornographic site or one that is WAY off base, can this service help?
Yes. The challenge is that someone else had that domain or a domain conglomerate bought it just to house their content and make money from Google Adwords. You should see relevant content on a search for your site within 7-10 days from our service being put into place.
10. Is SEO all you do, Ray, or do you have other services that could help me too?
Great question. I have worked in the computer industry for 25 years with experience that includes Executive, Quality Assurance, Web monitoring, Mainframe, AS400, programming, database administration, SEO, website design, computer contracting and have worked in many industries like banking, trucking, IRS, US Customs, Police Departments, retail and eBay. I would love to discuss any software needs you have or executive opportunities including CEO, CTO and CIO.
last question. What happens after my site gets onto Google page one?
Another great question. I have found that a site well done in SEO for 12 months will tend to stay on Google page one for a long time (again Mooreware.com is an example, where that site has not been changed in over 18 months - search for construction bookkeeping)
We offer a maintenance program at $250 per month that allows us to continue your placement analysis on a weekly basis. Any detrimental results and we begin creating new pages or editing those in place to continually keep your pages searching well.
